“Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon.”
~ Elizabeth Cady Stanton

I think this quote means that if you always tell the truth you are going to be in a good position at all times but if you are lying you will be in a shaky ground that is very risky and can lead to more and more lies. Your life can not depend on lies, sooner or later they will catch on to you

Attention to Detail 7 of 10

When you double-check your calculation for a math problem or cite sources carefully in a research paper you're paying close attention to detail. That skill comes in handy in any workplace, whether you maintain a database, keep a log of the hours you spend with clients or write e-mails. John Wooden UCLA's former great basketball consecutive national championships, was asked what he attributed his success to. Among a # of things, he mentioned that paying attention to details was one of the most important qualities for successful coaching and for high achievement in any worthwhile pursuit. He even paid attention to how his players would lace up and tie their show strings. If they didn’t tie them correctly, he would teach them how.
Details may be small things, but from things come great things, therefore, pay attention to details and yo will experience substantial progress in your overall educational attainment.

“Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.”
~ Peter F. Drucker

You should always do what is right even if its not acceptable. For example if you are playing a sport and you cant walk out the game but a player from the other team  gets hurt you should go do what is right and help them even though you will interfere with the game time.

Initiative 5 of 10

Initiative is creativity, inventiveness, originality, ingenuity, and imagination. Every time you respond in class, every time you choose your own research topic, every time you put together your own interpretation of a piece of literature, you take initiative. And future employers value can-do professionals who come up with new ideas & chart their own course through projects, employees who are self-reliant. Self-reliant people are self-starters who don’t procrastinate on getting the job done. They know what is required to do and do it. They don’t wait to be told may times. Succeeding in high school, college, and in the career world is taking the initiative.

“To be great—concentrate.”
~ Orson Swett Marden

In order for you to do something great you have to have potential and focus on that one thing you want to accomplish. For example if you want to get good grades you have to put all your effort into earning them and not giving up.

Problem-Solving Skills 4 out of 10

Problem solving goes far beyond your math textbook. Every assignment is an opportunity to weigh all possible solutions carefully and choose the one you think is best. As working professional, you’ll be solving problems regularly, whether its fixing a bug in a computer program or overcoming budget shortfalls. Problem solving situations occur extensively and frequently; therefore, are ready when then come.

When problems or challenges occur, some people look at them at negative experiences, as a crisis. These people are the ones who live day by day with gloom and negativism in their attitudes. But the really successful people, those who are cheerful & optimistic, are those who look at problems as opportunities, opportunities to learn, grow, expand their horizons, and make new discoveries. They look on the bright side of things and live happy lives.

“The man who has no imagination has no wings”
~ Muhammad Ali

I think this quote means that if you don’t have goals or expectations for yourself you wont achieve anything in life.

Speaking Skills 2 of 10

When you’re assigned a class presentation, think twice before dismissing it as an unimportant part of your education. Employers look for speaking skills in job applicants, who may have to give presentations to clients or represent their organizations in the fields. It never too soon to practice good eye contact and other public speaking techniques

According to the book of list, the fear of public speaking ranks number 1 in the minds of the majority of ppl. Far above the fear of death and disease, comes the fear of standing in front of a crowd. Joel Weiner noted author and public speaker wants to help people overcome that fear.
The biggest fear is public speaking with 15 % of American experiencing a dramatic fear of it.” Said Dr.Michael Telch of the laboratory for the Study of Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. “People have had to turn down jobs, and certainly students have dropped classes because of it.”
Regardless of your own occupation, your success depends a great deal upon your ability to communicate effectively! Whether you’re running a  meeting, selling a product, making a presentation, motivating co-workers or just communicating one-on one with others, you’ll get far better results if you can speak clearly, persuasively, smoothly, & intelligently.

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence & determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press on’ has solved and always will sole the human race.”
~Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the US
I think this quote means that one of the most important thing that a human has is persistence. If you want to achieve something you have to put all you dedication into doing it to accomplish it.

Writing Skills 1 if 10

Communication is at the top of the list of skills that employers look for. And communication In the workplace often means writing.
Health professionals keep patient charts, researchers depend on the money they collect by writing grant applications software engineers write technical specification, and nearly everyone writes e-mail to people inside and outside their organization. And before you even get the change to interview for a job you’ll need to present yourself in cover letters and resumes.
So by taking writing serious & doing your best on every research paper, every lab report you write, every new post you write in your blog site, & every writing activity you engage in, you’re  preparing yourself for a good career.

"Always do right"
~Mark Twain

you should always choose the right no matter what. Dont fall in negative things and choose the wrong. For example if someone is ditching and its your friend do ditch just because they are, do whats right and stay in school.

Online Learning Part 2

Finally, look beyond the article for more clues.
v Read the websites home page and the About Us page. Look for a mission statement to learn more about the site, its purpose and the organization sponsoring it.
v If there is an author listed, look for a biography that discusses the author listed, look for a biography that discusses the author’s education, profession and other relevant background. If there is no bio on the site, search for one elsewhere on the Web
v Check the date. Facts can change over time, so see if the site shows when it was last updated.
v Presentation counts; look at everything from design to spelling. A clean, well-organized site shows a certain degree of professionalism.
v Avoid sites that are pornographic, vulgar, inappropriate, below par, suggestive and falsifying.

“Gold medals don’t make champions…hard work does.”
-Anon

I think this quote means that when a person wins a medal or award that only because they have won it means that they deserve it. People that deserve the medals are people who are commited into doing their work and trying and never giving up. For example all Olympic medalist try very hard and some of them don’t even get medal but inside them then know they deserve it like every one else does too.

Online Learning Part 1

Read between the lines
Make a judgment about the sites and the information it contains. Here are some ways to do this:
·        Look for facts you know or can check with a trusted source. If the site gets those facts right, its more likely that the other facts on the site are also accurate.
·        Study the language used. It is angry, satiric or overly impassioned? This may indicate that the site is biased
·        Consider whether the argument are logical and backed up by evidence, and whether the site presents only one point of view
·        Check the links to the sources that the author acknowledges. Scholarly writing, whether in print or online, should include a bibliography

“ the right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character.”
~ Margaret Chase Smith

For example, smoking weed has become pretty popular now a day. So a lot of kids want to try it and be “cool”. But no matter what others do or think you shouldn’t fall into what is wrong. You should say what you think and follow what is right in your heart.

Its Online, but Is It On Target? Part 3

Dot-What?
Look at the site’s address. What follows the dot?

v  Dot-com is not only for business; anyone can use it. Dot-coms include well-known and respected companies, but also private individuals.

v  Dot-org usually indicates a not-for-profit organization. Many dot-orgs present unbiased information, but other have political agendas, focus on debatable issues instead of facts, and might not present all sides of an argument.

v  Dot-gov indicates a government website at the federal, state, or local level. The federal government is a good source of statistics, and its sites are widely considered among the most reliable.

v  Dot-mil is used by sites that are part of the military.

v  Dot-edu usually indicates a university website. While it is published research is generally considered very trustworthy. Anyone associated with the university , whether a world-renowned scholar or a freshman, can be given space on its server. Professors sometimes put student course work up on the Web, but that doesn’t mean they’re vouching for the information’s accuracy.

“Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking out potential.”
~ Liane Cordes

I think this quote means that if you try to put your effort into something you will accomplish and become successful. You shouldn't give you should put all your hard work and dedication into your goal even though you make mistakes don't stop, continue going. For example, Olympic competitor become better everyday because they train every single day.

Its Online, but Is It on Target? Part 2

Research with Attitude
Conduct your research with the attitude of a skeptic. As you examine websites for clues that they’re trustworthy, ask these questions:
v Who wrote the Web page? If you can’t identify the individual or organization responsible for the information, don’t use it.
v What is the author’s qualification for writing on the subject?
v Has the article passes through an editorial process designed to endure quality and accuracy?
v Whats the websites purpose? Look for motives – like selling products or winning votes- that could result in biased or incomplete info.
v Is the info accurate? Is it up-to-date? Where did the author get his info?

"Be quick, but dont get into a hurry."
~John  Wooden

For example when you are doing class work you should be quick to finish and not having to worry about doing at home but dont be in a hurry cause you might end up doing it wrong

Its Online, but Is it on Target? Part 1

Thanks to the Web, information is easy to find. However, it’s also easy to post something online. Anyone can do it.
You’ve probably used the Internet to do research for a paper, to help you decide which product to buy, or to form an opinion about current events. Looking up information online is fast and convenient. But when you do online research, its important to find sites you can trust.
Many websites claim to have the facts, but are full of errors. Others present information in a biased way- they only give one side of an argument. How can you tell reliable source from an unreliable one? Also, its critical that you post online only that which is descent and appropriate, never anything pornographic, vulgar, indecent, out of taste untruthful, or obscene. Post those things that will make a good name for you and your organization, that will promote goodwill & be of benefit to the world.
