In order for you to do something great you have to have potential and focus on that one thing you want to accomplish. For example if you want to get good grades you have to put all your effort into earning them and not giving up.

I think this quote means that one of the most important thing that a human has is persistence. If you want to achieve something you have to put all you dedication into doing it to accomplish it.

To do the right thing can mean everything, it is important to realize that what you are doing may be the wrong thing. Recognize and analyze right from wrong and question yourself "why is it wrong?" Although sometimes times get rough and you may not know what to do, if you want to go through the high road to success and satisfaction you must pass all the difficult things and avoid the wrong to reach that. Now, in order to accomplish this you need the discipline; you need to teach yourself and others what to do—when they don’t know what they should do and they are under difficult times, under pressure, right from wrong? Teach and be taught—discipline yourself and reach the your goals.

If a person doesn't have goals for themselves then they will not succeed or accomplish anything in life. If a ship doesn’t have a rudder it will not move in any direction. It will just be stuck in the water like a person will be stuck with nothing to do.
