In order for you to do something great you have to have potential and focus on that one thing you want to accomplish. For example if you want to get good grades you have to put all your effort into earning them and not giving up.

I think this quote means that if you try to put your effort into something you will accomplish and become successful. You shouldn't give you should put all your hard work and dedication into your goal even though you make mistakes don't stop, continue going. For example, Olympic competitor become better everyday because they train every single day.

 If you put all your effort into something you will be a successful person. Like for example if you study and try hard on a test you will score a high grade. And you will pass the class. But if you don’t put effort into anything, that means you don’t care. And won’t become successful.
